Overview: Located within the Durango Resort, The George stands out as the sole restaurant offering a happy hour among a diverse selection of dining options, including Bel-Aire Lounge, Nicco’s, Mijo’s Modern Mexican, Summer House, and the food court Eat Your Heart Out. Additionally, the center bar, Oasis Lounge, adds to the resort’s appeal. Although I didn’t explore the food court options, it’s worth noting that they offer a variety of food choices that might include their own happy hour deals.

Happy Hour Details:

  • Venue: The George
  • Setting: Outdoor patio (closed during extreme heat)

The George: The George is the quintessential sports bar and sportsbook, featuring an impressive array of TV screens so you can catch all the action from every angle. Its vibrant sports atmosphere is accentuated by the lively setting, making it a great spot for sports enthusiasts and casual patrons alike. The George offers its happy hour exclusively on the outdoor patio, where you can enjoy the action with a side of live entertainment on select evenings. However, during my visit, the patio was closed due to an excessive heat wave.

Happy Hour Menu: The happy hour menu at The George boasts some appealing deals, with a variety of options that cater to different tastes. I’ve included a photo of the menu here so you can check out the great offers for yourself. Even though the patio was off-limits during my visit, the value and quality of the happy hour items are worth noting and make it a destination worth revisiting.

Atmosphere and Experience: The George is a standout spot for sports fans, with its dynamic sports book environment and ample TV screens that keep you immersed in the action. The outdoor patio, when open, provides a more relaxed and enjoyable setting for happy hour, complemented by occasional live entertainment that enhances the overall experience. Given the impressive setup, a visit during a game night would likely provide an even more immersive atmosphere.

Other Dining Options: While The George is the only restaurant at Durango Resort offering a happy hour, the other dining venues like Bel-Aire Lounge, Nicco’s, Mijo’s Modern Mexican, and Summer House each provide unique dining experiences. Although they do not offer happy hours, they contribute to the overall dining variety at the resort.

Location and Accessibility: The Durango Resort offers a well-rounded selection of dining and entertainment options, making it a versatile destination for food and fun. The George’s prime location within the resort and its impressive sports bar setup make it a compelling choice for a visit. While parking and accessing the resort can sometimes be a bit busy, the experience and atmosphere are well worth it.

Overall Experience: Happy hour at The George is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a great deal in a top-notch sports bar setting. Although the patio was closed during my visit due to the heat, the combination of excellent happy hour deals, an extensive sports viewing setup, and the potential for live entertainment make it a standout choice. For those interested in experiencing the full ambiance, returning on a game night is highly recommended to fully appreciate the lively atmosphere and enjoy the outdoor patio. The George is undoubtedly worth a visit, both for its happy hour and its exceptional sports bar experience.

T-Bones Chophouse

Area: Red Rock Casino Resort

Address: 11011 W Charleston Blvd. 89135

Happy Hour: 4-6pm Sunday-Thursday

Cocktail Menu: The cocktail menu is somewhat limited but enough variety to find something you would like. The martini with blue cheese stuffed olives are a must-try for anyone who appreciates a good martini. These delicious cocktails perfectly complement the upscale ambiance of T-Bones Chophouse and Lounge.

Food Menu: I tried the happy hour tuna tacos, and they were fantastic. Fresh, flavorful, and a perfect light bite to pair with a cocktail.

Exclusive Happy Hour Menu: Many items on the happy hour menu are not available on the regular dinner menu, adding a unique touch to the early evening experience.

Timing: Arriving before 4:30 PM is key to securing a good spot and enjoying the Happy Hour experience before the evening rush begins.

Casino Comps and Points: It’s a bonus that T-Bones accepts comps and points from the casino, making it a great spot for regulars of Red Rock Resort.

Service and Ambiance: The bar is staffed entirely by an all-female team who provide friendly service. Real cloth napkins add a touch of class to the experience.

Non-Happy Hour Menu: If you’re looking for the full dining experience, the complete menu becomes available at 5 PM.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Setup Interruptions: The transition period before 5 PM can be a bit distracting, as employees prepare the space for evening service. This can impact the ambiance and service speed during Happy Hour.
  • Limited Happy Hour Cocktails: The cocktail selection for Happy Hour is somewhat limited. Expanding this list could enhance the experience.
  • Service Speed: Due to the setup activities, service can be a bit slow and distracted until about 4:30 PM. It took some time for us to order food after our cocktails arrived, which might be an area they could improve.

Personal Experience:

I had a pleasant interaction with Elise, one of the bartenders. She was attentive and friendly, even though it was clear she had a lot to manage with the setup for the evening. A little patience goes a long way here—treat the bartenders with the respect and understanding you’d want if you were in their shoes.

Final Thoughts:

T-Bones Chophouse and Lounge offers a refined Happy Hour experience with some excellent highlights, particularly the martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and the warm service. The exclusive Happy Hour menu items like the tuna tacos make it worth visiting early. However, being aware of the setup activities and timing your visit can make a big difference. Arrive early, relax, and enjoy the classy environment with a touch of patience for the best experience.

However, if you’re a sushi lover with a hearty appetite, you might want to order a few different rolls to satisfy your hunger. The quality of the sushi is undeniable, but the portion size leaves you wanting more.

Happy Hour Details:
  • Outdoor Patio: Features misting sprayers for summer (closed during heat waves)
  • Menu: Three set price categories for appetizers, cocktails, sushi, and wine
  • Cocktails: Moderate quality, suitable for a sports bar atmosphere

Outdoor Patio: One of the standout features of Kona Grill in Boca Park is its impressive outdoor patio. Equipped with misting sprayers, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy happy hour during the warmer months. However, during extreme heat waves, the outdoor seating is closed to maintain a cool environment inside the bar and dining areas. On milder days, the patio offers a refreshing and enjoyable setting, making Kona a desirable place to meet up with friends and enjoy the ambiance.

Menu and Pricing: Kona Grill’s happy hour menu is cleverly designed with three set price categories, offering a selection of appetizers, cocktails, sushi, and wine. While the choices in each price category are somewhat limited, the mix-and-match approach allows you to sample a variety of items to your liking. The appetizers are well-crafted and provide a good range of flavors, making it easy to find something you’ll enjoy.

Cocktails: The cocktails at Kona Grill are just okay—not quite up to par with those at higher-end restaurants, but they fit well within the casual sports bar atmosphere. They are perfectly fine for those looking to unwind with a drink after work or during a casual meet-up. If you’re a cocktail connoisseur, you might find them a bit lacking, but for most patrons, they hit the mark for a relaxing happy hour experience.

Ambiance and Crowd: Kona Grill has a laid-back, sports bar vibe that attracts a lively crowd, especially later in the evening. The interior is spacious, with plenty of seating options and two bars on the first floor. There’s also a second floor with additional dining space and another bar, although this area is only open during cooler weather to avoid the Vegas summer heat. The ambiance is casual and welcoming, making it a popular local hangout.

Service: Service at Kona Grill is commendable, with bartender Maegan standing out for her attentiveness and pride in her work. She ensures that guests are well taken care of, adding a personal touch to the overall experience. The staff’s friendly demeanor contributes to the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, making it easy to settle in and enjoy your time at the bar.

Location and Parking: Located in Boca Park, parking at Kona Grill can be a bit of a challenge. The parking lot is shared by many businesses in the area, leading to a hectic and sometimes frustrating parking experience. However, once you manage to park and make your way to Kona, the stress of finding a spot quickly fades away as you settle in with a cocktail and good company.

Overall Experience: Kona Grill in Boca Park offers a solid happy hour experience, particularly on days when the outdoor patio is open. The menu’s mix-and-match pricing structure allows for a fun and flexible dining experience, while the casual atmosphere and attentive service make it a comfortable spot to unwind. While the cocktails may not impress high-end connoisseurs, they are suitable for the sports bar setting. Despite the parking challenges, Kona’s inviting ambiance and popular local following make it a worthwhile destination for happy hour gatherings.
